What is EFD/VFD and Fiscal Receipt?

EFD: Is the electronic receipt-issuing machine authorized by Commissioner General to be used for business transactions.

VFD: Is the digital system (software cloud based) which approved by Commissioner General for capture, transmit and keep records of sales data electronically. Both EFD/VFD are there for serving same goals like, Improving the quality of business record, reduce tax evasion, fairness in assessing Tax liabilities, Minimized tax disputes, and enabling of real-time monitoring of business transaction.

Fisca receipts: Is a receipt or invoice issued by using a fiscal device, Government electronic payment gateway system or any other electronic system approved by the Commissioner General. 

 

Obligation to Acquire and Use EFD/VFD

A person who supplies goods, renders services or receives payment in respect of goods supplied or services rendered whose his/her annual turnover is assessed to be Tzs.11 million and above shall acquire and issue fiscal receipt or fiscal invoice by using electronic fiscal device which shall purchase from approved Supplier.

1. Users shall be free to purchase Electronic Fiscal Devices from any approved supplier
2. User shall not transfer in any form the EFD/VFD to any other person for any reasons 
3. User shall make sure that the EFD/VFD is available any time in his business premises and easily seen or accessible.

4. Where a user mistakenly enters an erroneous data into his EFD or Where EFD fails to operate for any reasons, the user shall within a period of twenty-four hours, report the incidence to the approved supplier and the Commissioner General.

    

Who is EFD/VFD Supplier?

Is a certified entity by commissioner General for import, distribute and sell EFD/VFD, install, configure, integrate, train users on how to use EFDs and provide after sales support including repairs and maintenance.

 

Requirement for Approved as EFD/VFD Supplier

A minimum capital of Tanzanian shillings one billion and five hundred million for electronic fiscal device suppliers and Tanzania shillings fifty million for virtual fiscal device suppliers;

1. A highly qualified technical team to install and configure fiscal devices, train and support users
2. A minimum of five years’ experience in supplying fiscal devices or similar information communications technology equipment; and
3. Any other requirement as may be prescribed by the Commissioner General.

 

List of Approved EFD/VFD Suppliers
