WAZO TAX CENTRE PART OF EFFORTS TO BRING TAX SERVICES CLOSER TO THE PEOPLE - CG MWENDA

17 September, 2026

As part of its continued efforts to improve access to tax services, the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has established tax centres in areas closer to the public, including Wazo and Mbezi Beach under the Tegeta Tax Region in Dar es Salaam.

To assess the effectiveness of the centres, the TRA Commissioner General, Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda, visited the Wazo and Mbezi Beach Tax Centres to assess service delivery and engage with taxpayers on their experiences and challenges, with a view to addressing issues affecting them.

During the visit, Mr. Mwenda said the decision to bring tax services closer to the public is aimed at saving taxpayers’ time and enabling them to focus on their businesses. He called on taxpayers to make full use of the centres to access tax services and seek assistance in resolving tax-related challenges.

“We have brought tax services closer to you. Make use of these services to improve your businesses through the Business Facilitation Desk available at every centre. The presence of these centres has also contributed to increased voluntary tax compliance,” said Mr. Mwenda.

For his part, the Commissioner for Domestic Revenue, Mr. Michael Muhoja, said TRA will continue taking services closer to where people live and conduct their businesses, noting that it is the Authority’s responsibility to serve taxpayers and facilitate tax compliance.

The Tegeta Tax Region Manager, Mr. Dickson Qamara, said the establishment of additional tax centres will further expand the tax base by facilitating the registration of new taxpayers in emerging settlements and growing peri-urban areas.
