The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has planted 3,850 trees across the country as part of activities marking its 30th anniversary, reinforcing its commitment to environmental conservation and public awareness on tax compliance.

Speaking during a tree-planting exercise at Mnazi Mmoja Primary School in Dar es Salaam on June 28, 2026, Commissioner General Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda said the initiative is designed to promote voluntary tax compliance while educating students on the importance of taxation through practical environmental engagement.

He said the trees also serve as a symbol of taxpayers’ contribution to national development and as a long-term reminder to students that tax compliance supports public services and development.

Mr. Mwenda urged the public and school communities to take good care of the trees, noting that they will provide long-term benefits such as clean air, shade, and fruit.

At Mnazi Mmoja Primary School, TRA planted 30 fruit trees, with the Commissioner General pledging continued support for their maintenance, including incentives for students tasked with taking care of them throughout the year.

The Head Teacher of Mnazi Mmoja Primary School thanked TRA for the initiative, describing it as a meaningful contribution to environmental conservation and education. He said the school had warmly received the exercise and promised to ensure proper care of the trees.

The Head Teacher also requested support for a water well and computers to strengthen academic activities, a request which Mr. Mwenda accepted and pledged to implement starting from Monday.
