TRA MEETS CEMENT MANUFACTURERS, PLEDGE TO BOOST PRODUCTION TO MEET MARKET DEMAND

26 September, 2026

The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), led by Commissioner General Yusuph Juma Mwenda , has met with cement manufacturers in the country, who have pledged to increase production to meet market demand.

The meeting, held at the TRA Headquarters in Dar es Salaam on September 25, 2026 , brought together cement manufacturers from various parts of the country under the leadership of the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI). The manufacturers welcomed the engagement with TRA and reaffirmed their commitment to voluntary tax compliance while increasing cement production in line with market demand.

The manufacturers also expressed satisfaction with the tax services and taxpayer education provided by TRA, noting that the support has enhanced their understanding of tax obligations and encouraged continued voluntary compliance for the development of the country.

Speaking during the meeting, TRA Commissioner General Yusuph Juma Mwenda emphasised that no one is above the law when it comes to tax compliance. He said TRA would continue working with manufacturers to support increased production while urging those benefiting from tax exemptions to use them responsibly and for their intended purposes.

The Commissioner General further said TRA would continue monitoring cement production and prices from manufacturers to retailers to ensure that the Government receives the appropriate taxes.
