TRA LAUNCHES TAXPAYER EDUCATION AND TAX CHALLENGES RESOLUTION MONTH

09 June, 2025

The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has launched a special month dedicated to Taxpayer Education and Resolving Taxpayer Challenges, aiming to serve taxpayers more closely within their business offices and address the tax-related issues they face.

Launching the initiative on 6th June, 2025, TRA Commissioner General Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda stated that the goal of this campaign is to reach more taxpayers in their local areas by providing education and addressing their tax challenges.

“In December 2024, we ran the ‘Thank You Taxpayer’ campaign, which continued through January 2025. During that time, we engaged with various taxpayer groups and listened to their concerns. That’s why we’ve decided to close this financial year by launching this initiative focused on education and resolving tax issues,” said Mwenda.

He explained that the theme for June aims to strengthen collaboration with taxpayers and ensure they are reached in their local areas, emphasizing that TRA’s top priority is to simplify doing business in the country.

He added that this initiative comes at the right time, as TRA has recently increased its workforce by 1,896 new employees who will be deployed across all regions of Tanzania. Their role will be to resolve tax challenges and provide education to taxpayers.

Mwenda noted that the Government expects these new employees to bring operational transformation to TRA by expanding the tax base and increasing the number of taxpayers, many of whom have yet to be reached.

He urged the new employees to avoid engaging in corrupt practices or unethical behavior, and instead to carry out their duties with integrity in line with public service values.

End.
