The Commissioner General of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda, has launched a special Business Facilitation Desk that will help identify informal traders and address their challenges so that they can grow their businesses.

The launch took place on September 27, 2025, at the Mnazi Mmoja grounds in Dar es Salaam and was attended by the Ilala District Commissioner, Hon. Edward Mpogolo, business leaders, and various groups of entrepreneurs.

Mr. Mwenda stated that some business owners face tax-related challenges and do not know where to go for solutions, but this desk will help to listen to them and help resolve their issues.

Speaking during the launch, Hon. Edward Mpogolo, representing the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Hon. Edward Chalamila, said the desk will serve as a tool to boost the economy of the region and the nation as a whole.

“We commend TRA for this important step of bringing services closer to business owners… This desk will enable small entrepreneurs to grow into medium-sized ones, and medium-sized entrepreneurs to become large-scale. This is a way to increase employment and income for citizens,” he said.

For their part, business owners expressed their appreciation for the initiative, saying they welcomed the desk wholeheartedly, noting that it will be a solution to many of their challenges.
