TRA ETHICS PLATFORM TO BOOST VOLUNTARY TAX COMPLIANCE – DEPUTY COMMISSIONER

24 April, 2026

The Deputy Commissioner General of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Mr. Mcha Hassan Mcha, has said the launch of the Authority’s Ethics Platform for stakeholders is expected to enhance voluntary tax compliance, a move that will support economic growth and strengthen the country’s path toward self-reliance.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam during the Ethics in Tax Administration Conference and the official launch of the platform on April 24, 2026, Mr. Mcha noted that TRA is prioritizing transparency, integrity, and accountability in its operations to build greater trust among taxpayers.

He explained that the platform will serve as a vital link between TRA, taxpayers, and other stakeholders, with the aim of promoting ethical conduct and encouraging voluntary compliance with tax obligations.

“We recognize that ethics is the foundation of institutional effectiveness. Through this platform, we seek to strengthen accountability among our staff and foster a positive relationship with taxpayers,” he said.

Mr. Mcha further stated that TRA will continue to enhance internal control systems, intensify efforts to combat corruption, and develop confidential reporting mechanisms to address unethical practices within the system.

According to the Deputy Commissioner General, these measures will help curb unethical behavior, improve transparency in tax administration, and ultimately motivate businesses and citizens to comply with tax laws voluntarily.

The conference, held at Johari Rotana Hotel in Dar es Salaam, brought together various tax stakeholders to discuss strategies for strengthening ethical standards in government revenue collection
