28 June, 2026
The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has donated medical equipment to Mwananyamala Regional Referral Hospital in Dar es Salaam as part of activities marking its 30th anniversary since its establishment.
The donation, which includes various essential medical equipment valued at approximately TZS 162 million, reflects TRA’s commitment to giving back to society by ensuring that tax revenues directly contribute to improving public services, particularly in the health sector.
Speaking during the handover ceremony on June 28, 2026, Commissioner General Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda said the initiative is part of TRA’s broader efforts to appreciate taxpayers and demonstrate how tax contributions are transformed into tangible community benefits.
He noted that the improvements seen in public infrastructure, including hospitals, are a clear reflection of the impact of tax compliance in national development.
Mr. Mwenda said TRA decided to support Mwananyamala Hospital with essential medical equipment to strengthen service delivery and improve healthcare for citizens.
He also commended President Samia Suluhu Hassan for ongoing reforms in the health sector and her commitment to improving access and quality of healthcare services across the country.
Mwananyamala Hospital Medical Officer in Charge, Dr. Aileen Balongo, expressed appreciation to TRA for the support, saying it will significantly enhance service delivery at the facility, which serves a large number of patients daily.
Dar es Salaam Regional Medical Officer, Dr. Mohammed Man’guna, also thanked TRA for the donation and praised continued government efforts to strengthen the health sector, urging citizens to support national development initiatives, including tax compliance.
