The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has been commended for establishing and launching a Special Business Facilitation Desk, a move described as a continuation of the Government’s efforts to improve the business environment and enhance accountability in tax compliance across the country. The launch took place on September 11, 2025, at Nyerere Square in Dodoma.
The event, which brought together various Government leaders, business operators, and development stakeholders, was graced by the Regional Commissioner of Dodoma, Hon. Rosemary S. Senyamule, as Guest of Honour. She commended TRA for its decision to establish the special desk dedicated to serving business operators.
“I wish to extend my sincere congratulations for this important step of launching a special desk to listen to and empower business operators in Dodoma Region. This desk will serve as a crucial link between TRA and businesspeople, helping to address their concerns, deliver services quickly and efficiently, and ultimately promote proper tax compliance,” said Hon. Senyamule.
The Regional Commissioner further noted that the desk will help reduce the challenges often raised by business operators regarding service delays and inadequate communication mechanisms. She emphasized that the desk will serve as a solution to these issues and remove barriers preventing many businesses from registering as taxpayers.
On his part, the District Commissioner of Dodoma, Hon. Jabir Shekimweri, underscored that the business facilitation desk will be instrumental in reducing bureaucracy and ensuring that business concerns are addressed promptly, thereby enhancing Government revenue collection to better serve citizens.
“This is indeed a desk of relief for all business operators. It is a dedicated platform that will connect them directly with the Authority to receive quick and professional responses to their challenges. Truly, this is a step towards strengthening trust between TRA and business operators,” said Hon. Shekimweri.
Meanwhile, the TRA Commissioner General, Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda, reiterated the Authority’s commitment to fostering strong relations with business operators guided by the 4Rs philosophy introduced by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan: Reconciliation, Resilience, Reforms, and Rebuilding.
“The Tanzania Revenue Authority will continue to be a trusted partner to all business operators nationwide. We shall keep on providing tax education, encouraging voluntary compliance, and ensuring the delivery of quality services with the highest level of integrity and accountability. This desk stands as evidence of that commitment,” said Mr. Mwenda.
The launch was held under the theme: “We Recognize, We Listen, and We Empower,” underscoring TRA’s commitment to ensuring that every business operator—whether large or small is recognized, listened to, and supported to improve their operations.
The theme reflects the priorities of the Sixth Phase Government under the leadership of H.E. President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, aimed at improving the business environment, increasing productivity, creating employment, and ultimately boosting national revenue.
The establishment of the Special Business Facilitation Desk is part of TRA’s broader strategy to improve service delivery, enhance transparency and trust, and strengthen voluntary tax compliance. The desk will continue to receive complaints, challenges, and feedback from business operators and address them swiftly in collaboration with relevant institutions, ensuring that the nation benefits more effectively from tax revenues for the development of all citizens.
In conclusion, leaders and stakeholders who attended the event unanimously agreed that the Business Facilitation Desk is a vital tool for strengthening collaboration between TRA and business operators, and a true example of meaningful partnership aimed at boosting the national economy through proper tax compliance.
End.
