TRA CELEBRATES CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK WITH BUSINESS OPERATORS IN KAHAMA
20 October, 2025
The management of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has marked Customer Service Week by engaging with various business operators, including those in the mining sector conducting their activities at the mineral market in Kahama District, Shinyanga Region, and commended them for continuing to pay taxes voluntarily.
Speaking at the event in Kahama on October 9, 2025, TRA Commissioner General Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda said that TRA leadership decided to celebrate the week at the mineral market in recognition of the significant contribution the sector makes to tax collections.
He stated that TRA values all taxpayers, including those in the mining sector, which is why they have established a business facilitation desk, and among the businesses eligible for support is mining. This explains his visit to the mine and meetings with small-scale miners.
He emphasized that for minerals to be sold properly, smuggling must be eliminated. Efforts are underway to ensure there is no smuggling, which will enable increased mineral sales in the official market.
“We sincerely thank you for continuing to trust us and pay taxes voluntarily. We value you very much, which is why we often visit and listen to you,” said Mr. Mwenda.
"The President greatly values the mining sector, which is why he formalized it, and he also formed a special Commission to review the tax system. I believe they listened to you, and we are waiting for the guidelines that will be issued we will implement them," said Commissioner General Mwenda.
He added that they will continue to implement the directives given by the President in serving taxpayers by acting fairly, building strong relationships with taxpayers, avoiding favoritism or oppression, promoting business growth, and providing quality services.
On his part, the Chairman of the Mineral Market, Mr. Abel Lubasha, thanked Commissioner General Mwenda for visiting and listening to them, noting that tax services on their side have improved and become easier.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Business Operators in Kahama Tax Region, Mr. Charles Machali, said that in recent days there has been calm in tax compliance and congratulated TRA for continuing to care for them.
The End.
