The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has pledged to collaborate with the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI) to address the tax challenges facing industry owners in the country to facilitate their operations and promote the growth of the industrial sector.

Responding to various concerns raised by the industry owners during the meeting, the Commissioner General Mwenda stated, "My goal is to see collaboration between TRA and industry owners so we can address tax challenges through discussions and end  the use of fake tax stamps, as they have been affecting  market market stability and thereby creating unfair competition."

Additionally, Mr. Mwenda accepted the request from the industry owners through their association, CTI, to have regular meetings to address the challenges they face and on this he suggested propoed semi annual meetings to start with and thereby promised to increase the number of cargo scanners at entry points to ensure a smooth and seamless clearance of goods to streamline the inspection process for goods imported into the country.

On their part, industry owners, led by the immediate former Chairman of CTI, Mr. Paul Makanza, expressed their willingness to cooperate with TRA, including exposing tax evaders who contribute to unfair competition in the market, which harms the industrial sector.

Meanwhile the executive Directorc of CTI, Mr. Leodeger Tenga, thanked the TRA Commissioner General for meeting with members of CTI and listening to their concerns, adding that the meeting would open a new chapter of collaboration between the two parties. He praised the improvements made within TRA since President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan took office, particularly the modernization of systems that have facilitated the work of industries, such as the improved TANCIS system, which has streamlined customs and cargo inspections.

This meeting highlights the willingness of both parties to work together to resolve tax-related challenges and enhance the success of industries, with the ultimate goal of boosting the national economy and ensuring fair competition within the industrial sector.
