31 March, 2026

The report from the Controller and Auditor General of Government Accounts has highlighted significant achievements in the implementation of the Government Budget for the fiscal year 2024/25, with a total of 50.29 trillion planned for collection, while the actual revenue reached 47.82 trillion, equivalent to an execution rate of 93.11 percent. The report indicates that domestic revenue continued to be the mainstay of the budget, achieving 99.41 percent of the set targets, which signifies the robustness of the revenue collection and management systems in the country.

In these achievements, the Tanzania Revenue Authority has been identified as the primary contributor, demonstrating excellent performance in tax collection and even surpassing the targets assigned to it. These successes are attributed to improvements in digital systems, effective management, and collaboration between taxpayers and the relevant authorities, which have helped enhance efficiency and transparency in the revenue sector.

Furthermore, the Controller and Auditor General of Government Accounts has commended the Government and the Tanzania Revenue Authority for these accomplishments, emphasizing the importance of continuing these efforts to maintain the momentum of revenue growth and further strengthen the national economy.
