IDRAS TO TRANSFORM OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY OF TRA
31 December, 2025
The Integrated Domestic Revenue Administration System (IDRAS), developed by the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), is expected to bring an operational transformation within the Authority once it becomes operational.
Speaking to TRA internal experts who participated in building the system on 29 December 2025 in Dar es Salaam, the Commissioner General of TRA, Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda, said that the IDRAS system will greatly simplify revenue collection and save taxpayers’ time.
He stated that through IDRAS, TRA will be able to expand the tax base and curb tax evasion by obtaining accurate information on all taxpayers, a situation that will increase government revenue.
Through IDRAS, Commissioner General Mwenda said they will enable more businesses by ensuring that taxpayers are provided with tax assessments based on information available in the system, and by avoiding incorrect claims that have been submitted by some dishonest taxpayers.
“The IDRAS system will implement the directive of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, who has called for government institutions’ systems to be interoperable in order to enhance transparency and accountability, as well as to simplify service delivery,” said Mr. Mwenda.
