DSE LEADERSHIP APPLAUDS TRA FOR STRONG PERFORMANCE AND RECORD TAX COLLECTIONS

18 April, 2026

The Chief Executive Officer of the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE), Peter Nalitolela, accompanied by his delegation, has applauded the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) for its strong performance, noting that the Authority has consistently surpassed government revenue targets and set new records in tax collections.

Speaking during a meeting held on April 17, 2026 at TRA headquarters in Dar es Salaam with the Commissioner General, Yusuph Juma Mwenda, Nalitolela said the increase in tax revenue reflects a growing public awareness of the importance of tax compliance, as well as the improved relationship between TRA and taxpayers.

“On several occasions, we have seen the Commissioner General personally visiting regions to engage with taxpayers, listen to their concerns, and provide tax education. This has significantly strengthened public trust in TRA and helped taxpayers view it as their own institution. We highly commend you for this performance,” said Nalitolela.

He further noted that the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange has listed a total of 28 institutions, including 22 government entities, all of whom are taxpayers under TRA. He pledged continued collaboration with TRA in providing tax education to market participants.

On his part, Commissioner General Mwenda acknowledged the contribution of the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange to tax revenue and emphasized the importance of continued partnership in expanding tax education and broadening the tax base.

He also pointed out the need for enhanced integration between TRA and DSE systems to improve transparency and operational efficiency between the two institutions.

Mwenda reaffirmed that TRA will continue to facilitate trade and investment in the country while addressing taxpayers’ challenges promptly and strengthening ongoing tax education efforts.
