COMMISSIONER MWENDA CALLS FOR UNIFORM TAX DECISIONS AND QUALITY TAX SERVICES FOR ALL TAXPAYERS
13 April, 2026
The Commissioner General of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Yusuph Juma Mwenda, has directed regional managers to ensure that taxpayer services across the country are delivered professionally, consistently, and strictly in line with the law.
Speaking in Mwanza on April 13, 2026, during the opening of a national workshop for TRA regional tax managers, Mr. Mwenda underscored the importance of harmonizing tax administration practices. The meeting brought together managers from both Domestic Revenue and Customs departments to strengthen service delivery and improve the overall taxpayer experience.
He pointed out that inconsistencies in tax decisions have contributed to complaints from taxpayers, stressing that every manager has a responsibility to apply the law uniformly in their respective regions. According to him, fairness and legal compliance must be at the center of every decision made by TRA officials.
“Go and continue to enforce tax laws and make fair decisions in accordance with the law. Decisions made in Mwanza should be consistent with those made in Ilala and Mtwara. This consistency will further build trust among taxpayers in the institution,” said Mr. Mwenda.
The Commissioner General further assured taxpayers that TRA remains committed to delivering equal and reliable services nationwide, emphasizing that the Authority operates as one unified institution guided by the same legal framework, regardless of location.
