COMMISSIONER GENERAL REAFFIRMS TRA’S COMMITMENT TO TAXPAYER RIGHTS AND ENGAGEMENT

10 April, 2026

The Commissioner General of the Tanzania Revenue Authority, Yusuph Juma Mwenda, has strongly reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to ensuring that every taxpayer in the country is listened to, respected, and provided with timely solutions to their tax-related concerns.

He made the remarks during a meeting with business representatives from the Temeke Tax Region who visited TRA offices in Dar es Salaam, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement and communication with stakeholders.

Mr. Mwenda noted that TRA continues to create a friendly, transparent, and inclusive environment that allows taxpayers to freely share their views, ask questions, and receive accurate clarification on tax matters without barriers. He emphasized that this approach is essential in enhancing understanding, eliminating misconceptions, and building trust between the Authority and taxpayers.

He further explained that TRA is committed to holding regular consultative meetings with various stakeholder groups to better understand and promptly address their challenges. This strategy aims to strengthen cooperation, enhance voluntary tax compliance, and build a tax system that is widely accepted and supported by the public.

Reaffirming the Authority’s direction, Mr. Mwenda stated that TRA will continue improving service delivery, increasing efficiency, and upholding fairness, transparency, and equity in all its operations. These efforts are expected to boost government revenue, strengthen the national economy, and support effective implementation of development initiatives for the benefit of all Tanzanians.
