The Commissioner General of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda, has reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to listening to taxpayers and addressing tax-related challenges in a timely manner to foster a conducive environment for business growth, investment, and national economic development.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, during a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of Twiga Cement (TPC PLC), Mr. Alfonso Velez, Mwenda said constructive engagement with taxpayers remains central to TRA’s efforts to enhance voluntary tax compliance and improve service delivery.

He noted that strong collaboration between the tax administration and the business community is essential in building a transparent and responsive tax system that takes into account the needs of taxpayers while supporting the country’s development agenda.

The discussions focused on strengthening the long-standing partnership between TRA and large taxpayers, as well as exploring practical ways of enhancing cooperation to ensure the tax system remains efficient, predictable, and supportive of economic activity.

On his part, Velez commended TRA for promoting open dialogue and stakeholder engagement, saying the approach has contributed to greater understanding of tax matters and strengthened relations between the tax authority and the private sector.

The meeting took place as TRA continues to mark its 30th anniversary, under the theme: “Three Decades of TRA: Taxpayer the Hero, Self-Reliant Tanzania.”
