BARRICK GOLD MINE COMMENDED FOR GOOD TAX COMPLIANCE

The Commissioner General of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda, has commended the management of the Barrick gold mining company for being good taxpayers who comply with the country's laws.
He gave the commendation on October 9, 2025, during a visit to the Bulyanhulu mine located in Msalala District, Shinyanga Region, with the aim of congratulating them, expressing gratitude, and listening to their challenges as part of Customer Service Week celebrations.
Mr. Mwenda said that the Bulyanhulu mine, apart from being a good taxpayer, has also employed a large number of workers who pay taxes, along with contractors and suppliers who work with them and contribute to tax payments.
"You are good taxpayers, so we congratulate and thank you. We also urge you to continue paying taxes voluntarily for the development of our nation, and we will continue to support your businesses," said Mr. Mwenda.
On his part, the Acting General Manager of Bulyanhulu Mine, Mr. Leon Ebondo, thanked TRA for visiting the mine, listening to them, and addressing their challenges.
Mr. Ebondo said that Bulyanhulu Mine has employed 1,510 permanent staff and works with over 2,000 contractors. Additionally, people from villages surrounding the mine have been getting temporary employment.
